What is a client gallery for photographers?
A client gallery is a private online space where clients view the photographs from their shoot, choose their favourites and, if you allow it, download them. Good photography gallery software replaces a folder of exported files with something that feels like part of your studio.
How do photography clients access their gallery?
You share one link and choose who it opens for: anyone with the link, clients who enter a PIN of four to eight digits, or only people you invite, who confirm their email address with a six-digit code.
Do clients need a StudioFolio account?
No. Clients never create an account. Their favourites save in the browser they use, and they can confirm their email with a one-time code if they want to keep their picks on another device.
Can clients select their favourite photographs?
Yes. Clients tap a heart to favourite a photo, and can rate photos from one to five stars, mark album picks or rejects, and comment on individual photographs. When they're done they send their picks with their name and an optional note, and you get a notification.
Can clients download their photographs?
Only if you turn downloads on for that gallery. Clients can then download the whole gallery or just their picks as one ZIP file, at full resolution or web size (up to 1600 pixels), whichever you choose.
Can a gallery expire?
Yes. Keep a gallery open, or let it expire after 30 days, 90 days, a year or on a date you pick. Clients see how many days are left, and you can reopen an expired gallery later.
Where are gallery photographs stored?
In your own Google Drive or Dropbox, if you connect one. StudioFolio streams the photographs from your account through short-lived links rather than copying them. If you'd rather not manage storage, StudioFolio Cloud is an optional paid add-on where StudioFolio hosts the files for you.
Can I use Google Drive for a photography client gallery?
Yes. Connect your Google Drive account, pick a folder and StudioFolio turns it into a gallery. Dropbox works the same way.
Does StudioFolio support photo proofing?
Yes. Clients favourite, rate and comment, mark album picks or rejects, and tell you when they're finished. In StudioFolio you see who has finished, filter the gallery to their favourites, rated photos, album picks or rejects, and export the chosen filenames.
Do StudioFolio galleries work on mobile?
Yes. On a phone the gallery uses a compact header, and clients swipe between photographs, pinch to zoom, favourite and download just as they would on a computer.
