Is StudioFolio really free?
Yes. The Starter plan is $0 forever. It's not a 7-day or 14-day trial. No credit card is needed to sign up. Every core feature is included from day one. The only limits are capacity: 3 active projects, 20 portfolio photos and 1 connected storage account. Upgrade only if your business outgrows those.
How many projects can I manage for free?
3 active projects at a time on the free Starter plan. A project only counts while it's active. Archiving a completed job removes it from that count immediately.
What happens when I archive a project?
Nothing is deleted. Its contracts, invoices, gallery and history all stay exactly as they were. Archiving just frees up one of your 3 active project slots. You can unarchive it whenever you like. It picks back up at the exact stage it was in before. Unarchiving is only blocked if doing so would push you back over the 3-project limit.
Does StudioFolio include contracts?
Yes. Build a photography contract and send it to your client by email. They sign it themselves from a private link, with a real signature and a timestamped record of when and how it was signed.
Can I invoice photography clients?
Yes. Every project has line items, a running balance and payment history. To actually collect card payments, connect your own Stripe, Paystack, or Flutterwave account so clients pay you directly. StudioFolio never holds or processes the money itself.
Can clients view galleries?
Yes. Clients open a private link with no account or sign-up required. They browse their gallery, favorite and select images and download them if you've allowed it.
Do I need my own cloud storage?
Yes, for your photo originals. Connect Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive (or a compatible S3 bucket) that you already use. One storage connection is included free on Starter. If you'd rather not manage your own storage at all, StudioFolio Cloud is a separate, optional paid add-on.
Is StudioFolio only for wedding photographers?
No. Portrait, family, event, commercial and freelance photographers all use the same inquiry-to-gallery workflow. It fits any photography business built around client work.
Do I need a credit card to start?
