Until then, archiving a finished project frees its slot and keeps everything in it. When you do reach a limit, StudioFolio tells you and offers the upgrade. Nothing you've made is removed.

Is StudioFolio really free?
Yes. The Starter plan costs nothing for as long as you use it. It isn't a trial, and you don't need a credit card. Starter includes clients, projects, bookings, contracts, invoices, messages and galleries; its limits are about how much you run at once.
What are the limits on the free plan?
Starter allows 3 active projects at a time, 1 storage connection, 20 portfolio photos on your booking page, and 3 of the 9 gallery cover designs and 3 of the 7 grid layouts. Starter galleries and booking pages show a small StudioFolio credit. Clients and galleries are unlimited. Unlimited removes every one of these limits.
How many projects can I manage for free?
Three active projects at a time. A project only counts while it's active: archiving a finished job frees its slot straight away, so over a year you can run far more than three.
What happens when I archive a project?
Nothing is deleted. Its client, contract, invoices, gallery and history stay exactly as they were. Archiving only frees one of your three active project slots.
What happens when I reach a limit?
StudioFolio tells you and offers the upgrade when you try to go past it, for example when you start a fourth active project. Nothing you've already made is removed. You can archive a finished project instead, or move to Unlimited.
How do I upgrade, and can I cancel?
Upgrade from the Billing page in StudioFolio. Checkout is handled securely by Freemius, and your plan updates as soon as it's done. Unlimited is $12 a month billed annually, or $15 billed monthly. You can cancel anytime, and Unlimited stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
Does the free plan include contracts and invoices?
Yes. Send a contract for your client to sign online, and invoice with line items, a deposit and balance schedule and payment history. To take card payments, connect your own Stripe, Paystack or Flutterwave account.
Do I need my own cloud storage?
To deliver galleries, connect the Google Drive or Dropbox you already use; one storage connection is included on Starter. StudioFolio streams your photos from there rather than copying them. If you'd rather not manage storage, StudioFolio Cloud is a separate, optional paid add-on.
Is the free plan suitable for wedding photographers?
